    Proposition 8 …
Proposition 8 supporters really dont have a leg to stand on anymore. Its simply amazing that this is still a debate.

    You’re still saying …
You’re still saying that your religious liberty should interfere with private individuals.

    Evangelicals are …
Evangelicals are often so focused on sexual morality and a personal relationship with God that they ignored the needy. The prophet Ezekiel as saying that the great sin of the people of Sodom wasnt so much that they were promiscuous or gay as that they were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. (Ezekiel 16:49.) The American view of evangelicals is still shaped by preening television blowhards and hypocrites who seem obsessed with gays and fetuses.

    Religious liberty …
Religious liberty is not limited to private belief. It is free exercise that is protected, and it is free exercise that is being systematically restricted in favor of sexual preference. You need to read the authors on your own side – notably Chai Feldblum – who have absolutely no doubt that there is open conflict between the free exercise of religion and “gay rights.” All your wishful thinking does not change what has happened globally against Christians as a consequence same-sex “marriage.”

    Having gay marriage …
Having gay marriage is not going to do anything to negate religious liberty. You’re still going to be free to believe in what you believe in. Marriage is law not religion. How the ceremonies are performed can involve religion but not all do. Quit confusing marriage and religion, they are two separate entities.

    If a same-sex …
If a same-sex couple wants to be “married” in some ceremony, let them. But don’t insist that we redefine marriage in law and society to call something that is not marriage a marriage. The true intolerance here is the elevation of sexual preference above religious liberty. That concept–deeply embedded in this Administration and the position you defend–is antithetical to the First Amendment. Writing the First Amendment out of the constitution is intolerant, indeed.

    Let me rephrase …
Let me rephrase that as you have no control over the allowing any more than I do. But you are so “tolerant” you don’t want to see your brother-in-law settle down with the man he wants to spend the rest of his life with, or any other gay people. Yeah that’s some real “tolerance” there.

    Yeah you’re such a …
Yeah you’re such a tolerant soul that you won’t allow gay people the opportunity to get married. How very “tolerant” of you.

But Ocean Grove Pavilion is NOT private property. They filed with the state of New Jersey in 2007 as PUBLIC property.

    Quite the contrary, …
Quite the contrary, I am not going to force the Unity Church which allows community groups to use its facilities to host the Westboro Baptist Church, and I’m not going to force a flaming homosexual videographer to document the event. I’m a tolerant soul and quite happy to let them exercise their rights of conscience.

    The issue is …
The issue is whether you are going to force a religious institution to host ceremonies on their private property when the ceremony is directly contrary to their religious identity and beliefs. As best I can tell, you would do so if the church receives any public benefit or allows public access. Skateboarding isn’t the issue; forcing an expressive association to facilitate the contrary expression of private parties is.

Uhm…why do I have this funny feeling that you would protest quite vigorously that you are a very “tolerant” person if someone pointed out that you are a violent bigot?

    Religious fundies, …
Religious fundies, like the many Christian extremists we have in the USA, are as much a threat to the safety of America, are just as much a threat as those that flew planes on 9-11. They should be exterminated, before they get their wish; to exterminate those who will not follow them. How else do you think Christianity became so wide spread, wasnt all the proselytizing, (aka shoving their beliefs into everyones face, even withholding humanitarian aid if those they try to convert wont).

There are plenty of people who already follow that model. Perverse penguins? In your mind they’re perverse. They don’t have the hang ups that people do. As if straight societies remain totally stable.

    No. But what …
No. But what Catholic Church is going to let kids skateboard in their sanctuary? What Catholic Church is going to allow concerts? Both of those activities have been occurring at the Ocean Grove Pavilion. I wonder what kind of liability insurance they have if they are allowing kids to skateboard there?

Let’s see what the bible has to say about it?

    What about Ezekiel 23:20?
“She lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose semen was like that of horses.”

Was the story perhaps told by a…….errr……..uhhhh……I dunno, maybe a……gay man of god?

    I assume that those …
I assume that those in favor of “gay marriage” are also ok with the marriage of consenting brother/sister and consenting parent/child unions – as that would be in line with equality as well. I also assume they are against things like women-only health clubs, as that would be gender inequality.

    The countries that …
The countries that have longest track record of formally recognizing same sex relationships have been studied and the trends are toward increasing numbers of children born outside of marriage and a significant decrease in durability of relationships across the board. That is bad news. And I’ve yet to see a credible, objective study showing a statistically valid equality in development of children in same sex relationships versus stable heterosexual relationships. Send me a cite if you can.

    Well, the Bible …
Well, the Bible does command us to pray in our closets! Aside from that, the point is that this is not a broom closet, it is a facility specifically built and used for church functions, and particularly for worship. Would it be different if this was a Catholic property and had the usual permanent Catholic fixtures? You have to say no, or your argument devolves even further into unconstitutional intrusion into religion via “nondiscrimination” laws.

    The rule is more …
The rule is more than adequately proven in Canada, Sweden, England, and other western countries. In Canada, a Christian just spent years trying to end a “human rights” complaint against him for writing a letter to the editor that was no stronger than anything I’ve said here. Why listen to me? Listen to Chai Feldblum, Elena Kagan, and the others setting policy for the Obama administration….

    There’s an idea– …
There’s an idea–model sexual morality after animals. Hmmm…I’ll take the African male lion’s model-have sex with as many lionesses as you can, lay around in the sun, get fed, swat the kids if they annoy you. Repeat. Meanwhile, you can adopt the habits of perverse penguins or whatever your role model is. More to the point: Please list all of the stable societies founded upon same-sex relationships. Ans: Zero. One should not determine broad policy in favor of non-normative relationships.

    There’s actually no …
There’s actually no evidence that growing up with a same sex couple as parents is harmful to the child. There’s actually quite some evidence that these children develop just as good as the kids from heterosexual parents.

    Gays are actually …
Gays are actually part of natural families, too. It’s a biological trait which exists since the beginning of mankind. Just like with over 4000 animal species.
