The Relationship Between Hypnosis And Sleep
December 24th, 2009 | by admin |
Hypnosis and sleep are very much related to each other reports new research. Before the advent of “sleeping pills” and other medically proved sleeping aids, which used chemicals to subdue the mind into a restful sleep, hypnosis was very much in use as a sleep inducing treatment for many who suffered from perpetual sleeplessness or insomnia. Even complicated surgical operations were performed after hypnotizing the patient into a deep sleep when the benefits of chloroform were unknown to surgeons. So there is a long history of the relationship between hypnosis and sleep.
When you look at a person who has been hypnotized, you can easily see the ‘trance-like’ sign of hypnosis that comes before a person falls asleep. As a matter of fact, hypnosis and sleep happens with the hypnotist telling the subject in a calm monotonous yet firm voice to go to sleep, though people going to sleep with the help of self-hypnosis are not uncommon…..
Do you always remember every aspect of a familiar car journey? Think about it, you probably remember parts of it, but actually your conscious mind took care of the actual driving and your sub conscious mind wandered into a hypnotic state. Daydreaming is another example of this.
Self-hypnosis CDs often work wonders in inducing sleep in people who have trouble getting off to sleep. These people also report a deeper, undisturbed nights sleep, again proving the connection between hypnosis and sleep.
Hypnosis And Sleep – Get Relaxed
A state of total relaxation, especially of the conscious mind is the ideal state for sleep to take place. This is mirrored by the process of inducing sleep through hypnosis, hypnotists try to block the conscious mind of their subjects while training the sub-conscious mind to accept their commands like ‘raise your hand’; ’shut your eyes’, etc. a process in which the body is brought to a state of total relaxation and the mind becomes clear – which obviously is the ideal sleep pre-condition. Once the conscious mind is relaxed, sleep normally follows.
So, if you are having trouble sleeping consider the connection between hypnosis and sleep and see if it will work for you.

Im losing sleep, warped relationship with food,Hypnosis..?
Okay how can I explain this, Its 4am where I live,I should be asleep, but for the last couple of days Ive been waking up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. I dont need the toilet, or something to eat,or medication.
Ive been using a weightloss hypnosis tape and to be honest, I feel like my relationship with food is now very warped – Im eating between 800 – 1600 kcal a day, sometimes even less.
Should I stop using the tape?Or continue?

well if you dont get good night sleep soon i would stop, but make shure to document what you eat, if you want to continue to loose weight (it actually helps if you record it all) but 800-1600 is fine for your cal in take.

Hello
Self hypnosis is a good thing, but not where there are complex issues at hand such as an eating disorder.
Stop using the tape, if you wish to use hypnosis find a Hypnotherapist who is experienced with ED’s.
